FAQ:
• How do I price my antiques?

Price guide books and internet sites such as eBay.com and RubyLane.com are helpful in determining the current market price for your antique. Sometimes sellers will price their antiques 10% - 20% lower for a quick sale. Be aware of flaws that may increase or decrease the value of your piece. For instance, crazing and cracks in pottery can decrease its value by half, however wear marks or patina on furniture help show its age and often increase its value. And if you have an original sales receipt or original box these may increase its value as well.

•What should I do if someone wants to negotiate the price?

After pricing your item, determine for yourself the lowest price you are willing to accept. Often buyers will ask if you are willing to take less, a dealer willing to negotiate may accept 10% - 15% less.

•What do I need to know about the antique I am selling?

The more information you have about a piece, the easier it will be to sell. Look over the piece carefully to see if there are any markings telling the maker. Authenticating a piece for the buyer may help close the sale. Knowing how your antique was made, where it was made, the age, manufacturer, and any other interesting details will be of value.

Good Luck and Happy Selling!
